Training the trainers

Professional knowledge transfer requires more than just specialised knowledge and language skills.

Trainers navigate a highly structured network of individual and social expectations, categorisations and discourses. They need to be critically aware of the complex interplay of all these dimensions in each teaching setting in order to manage them in a professional and productive manner. The concept of Go like Silk enables trainers to recognise where both they and their students are positioned in this network, on a personal, social and institutional level. This allows them to adopt a more nuanced approach to power dynamics, stereotyping and evaluation models and to create a learning space in which students can more easily identify and cultivate their interests and their strengths.

design professional teaching materials for varied learner groups
develop inclusive discourses and spaces that acknowledge and motivate everyone involved in the teaching setting
create flexible learning structures that correspond to situation-specific requirements (time management, learning goals, group dynamics)
